Hingstons in Devon in 1851 Census

The following are all the HINGSTONs that were living in Devon at the time of the 1851 census. The LDS transcription of the census is now available on CD-ROM, and all Hingstons, and possible variants have been copied. In particular, there are people who are known about who appear in the index under the name Kingston, presumably by a misreading of the census microfilms. Where we have independent evidence for the name Hingston rather than Kingston, this is noted. It would be very helpful if anyone who has checked the original films (or who can check those films) for the other Kingstons would do so and let me know the results, either way.

The right-hand column identifies the tree into which that person fits ([HA], [HD], etc.). Those trees are listed separately. Eventually these will provide links to the relevant tree. Sequence numbers have been given for each family here (1-112) and HTML bookmarks added so that cross-links can be put in from the various trees.

This version has been transferred into HTML from a tabulated Word File. Unfortunately, HTML cannot easily cope with tables without completely reformulating the text, and I have better things to do than retyping it all. I hope this is clear enough to make sense.
